20 Resources That Will Make You More Efficient With Item Upgrades

Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a common and essential way to boost the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can be a great source of additional damage, more AD or even more affixes.

Often times however upgraded Common and Magic gear is outclassed by Rare-grade gear because of their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They boost the performance of the item that they're attached to. Upgrades to armor are available in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using a specialist or higher salvage kits to salvage upgrade components from other items.

The amount of damage an armored item or weapon can absorb depends on the level of its upgrades. A piece of armor upgraded to the highest upgrade level will boost its ability to absorb damage. It's important to remember that this will increase the weight of the armor, which means it must be more heavy.

There are a variety of armor upgrade available in the game. Each one has a distinct effect. Some upgrades give armor a greater number of health points, while others make it more powerful and lighter. The name of the upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade an item can receive, as shown below.

Certain upgrades require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, which is indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Additionally, some upgrades require a charge to use, which is identified by a "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are either continuously updated or never expire based on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest way to upgrade your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small chests. Titanium is more costly, but is readily available at the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant boost to stats and are a worthwhile investment, especially for 1-handed weapons.

The player should be aware that upgrading a piece up to the max upgrade level will increase its defense value. However, it will also decrease its agility and its speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor beyond +9. The added defense typically isn't worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to increase the effectiveness of certain aspects of an weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Certain weapons come with special upgrades to improve their inherent characteristics. Frictionless materials (improves stability, and reduces the possibility of overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's acceleration to cause more damage) are two examples.

Most weapon upgrades require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade to apply.  upgrade item  can be obtained by completing Side Quests, killing a certain amount of monsters or bosses or by contacting the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.

Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a certain amount of Bars. You could do this until you reach a maximum upgrade level for the equipment or weapon, after which the upgrades would be reset.

You can still do this, but the process is based on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're much better off visiting stores and buying equipment with low upgrade levels but good base scores and stat distributions. Jewels

Jewels can be used to increase the effectiveness of a skill or provide additional effects in armor and weapons. They can be created through a process called jewelry crafting, in which you combine a gem and various ingredients at a table for jewelry. The higher the tier of the gem has, the more powerful its secondary effect. These reagents are available from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses in the world, or by collecting Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.

The Jeweler can enhance the quality of a gem in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. The boosts to stats will differ depending on the tier the jewel is at when it's inserted into weapons, jewelry, or gear.

All levels of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a high enough level to be able to get the privilege of having them. Jewels can be substituted with another jewel without destroying the original. However, you can only replace a jewel in a piece of equipment only once.

It is normal to use more gems to enhance the appearance of. Apart from improving performance, the jewels also create a surface that is harder than steel, so the repeated friction from pivots won't cause damage as easily.

They can be acquired starting in the beginning areas as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, or by performing road interactions. They can also be made by jewelers, and then found or purchased on the Trading Post.

The first trinket a player can unlock is the cloak. It provides a tiny but beneficial boost in speed of movement and the ability to evade. The player can then acquire necklaces, rings, and amulets, in a similar way as they did with weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has one upgrade slot that accepts either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be put into any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded, and only works with certain kinds of trinkets.

These trinkets also grant additional buffs and skills that are active whenever the hero is not fighting. This allows a hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It can also make up for the lack of a excellent team or talent tree slots which are usually filled by a hero's top stats.

These can be obtained by completing certain milestones in the story, for instance completing a chapter's main quest or killing a certain boss. They can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
